Diamond buying has been made deliberately complicated. It is actually four decisions.
1. Shape
Trust first instinct. Ovals look larger for their weight and flatter the finger; rounds return the most light; emeralds trade sparkle for glassy elegance; pears point. There is no wrong answer, only hers.
2. Carat
Carat is weight, not size — but the two travel together. The honest advice: buy the carat that suits the hand, not the ledger. A 1.00ct oval on a slim band reads beautifully; chasing a number rarely does.
3. Quality
Colour, clarity and cut collapse into one question: does the stone face up white, clean and alive? Our three presets answer it at three budgets. Essential is flawless at arm's length; Signature is flawless at conversation distance and our recommendation; Premier is for perfection under the loupe.
4. Metal
18k yellow is the classic; white is the modernist; rose is the romantic; platinum is the heirloom, a touch heavier and a touch cooler in colour. All four are hallmarked at the London Assay Office.
Four decisions, five minutes. Every product page walks you through them, and a human is a message away when you want one.
